Last week we ventured to the Toledo Zoo for the day. D had received her membership card in the mail that she got for an early birthday present so the kids needed to go. We did pick the hottest day of the week, but it was still great fun. We usually get a Detroit Zoo membership but since we live about 1/2 way between both zoos we decided to try something new. The Detroit Zoo was getting a little boring after being there so many times and the Toledo Zoo has different animals. We all had fun checking out the animals that we don't normally see. At most of the habitats we would read a few facts about the animal, so we were learning something. I love seeing the kids getting excited over animals that they have learned about in the past and actually telling me about them. There was a huge building that was just about birds! There were birds from all over the world, big and small, caged and loose. The kids can't wait to take their papa and take him through it. We were unable to see D's favorite animal the flamingo. We were expecting this though so she wasn't really upset. But the new flamingo habitat opens Memorial Day weekend and D's birthday is that Tuesday. So we are going to spend D's birthday at the Toledo Zoo, and daddy should be joining us.
